Ceramics is where earth meets hand, shaped by patience, memory, and the quiet joy of making

Cultural connection is messy, layered, and through it all, deeply meaningful.

I’ve always been a little hesitant when it comes to fine arts. It felt too abstract, too distant, like I couldn’t really belong in that space. Working with clay shifted that for me. Clay felt real, grounding, something I could actually hold onto.

Through it, I started to feel closer to family.

This project gave me room to explore identity: what it means, how it shows up, and how it can be expressed without needing words.

Looking at the Mayans, I was drawn to their simple, rounded shapes. There’s a power in that simplicity, a reminder that not everything meaningful has to be loud or complex. Sometimes the everyday and the ordinary hold just as much weight.

With glazes, I began experimenting -allowing drips, textures, and layers show movement, emotion, and traces of history, like something passed down over time.

Making this piece helped me see that cultural connection doesn’t need to look a certain way. It can grow slowly -through touch, through color, through form.

Object: 8”x 6”, Material: Clay

Community in Teacups

I’ve always loved the idea of tea parties whether fantastical or simplified, the idea of sharing and chatting over tea is a great privilege.

the mundane

i love flowers and the simplicity they bring; the space they create is something i always appreciate. for months i dedicated my journaling and ways of expression through pressed flowers. from experimentation with underglazing through various phases of firing and glazing, i was able to acheive pressed flower-like illustrations on ceramics.

Process & Results

This is a small collection of ceramics made with care, curiosity, and a love for simple, useful things. Each piece is shaped by hand and meant to feel honest: a little imperfect, a little personal. Inspired by places I’ve lived and quiet everyday moments, these are objects I hope feel good to hold, use, and keep around. Thanks for being here.
